B9 doesn't charge interest. Instead it charges a monthly membership, plus optional fees for instant transfers. Here's the full cost picture — and how to pay less.
Membership plans
| Plan | Monthly fee | Advance ceiling | Notable extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $5.99–$11.99 | Up to $250 | Debit cashback, instant B9-to-B9 transfers, free ACH |
| Premium | $19.99* | Up to $1,000 | Higher limits, credit monitoring & score tools |
*Premium has also been offered at a reduced effective rate when paid annually. The Basic tier has appeared at different prices and advance caps across listings, which is why we show a range.
How to avoid the monthly fee
B9 has waived the membership fee for members whose total direct deposits are large — reported around $5,000 per month, and deposits from multiple employers can count. If your paycheck already runs at that level, Premium can effectively cost nothing.
Instant-transfer fees
Getting your advance instantly to an external bank or card costs an optional fee. You can avoid it two ways: spend directly from your B9 debit card, or use a free standard ACH transfer that lands in about 1–3 business days.
Fees people miss
- Sending your own money out: some users report charges when moving funds to external wallets like Cash App or to Apple Pay. Read the in-app fee schedule.
- Membership in idle months: the subscription bills whether or not you take an advance, so occasional users pay for access they don't use.
Is the fee worth it?
Spread across regular use — advances, the debit cashback, and everyday banking — the membership can be reasonable. For a one-off advance, a no-subscription app is usually cheaper. See our cost comparison in B9 vs Dave and the full alternatives roundup.
